Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel Ready to Hit the India Roads
The new Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel is expected to be launched in the Indian car market by mid 2012. Hyundai Motors, the second largest automobile manufacturer of the country, right after Maruti Suzuki, established its name as a car brand by introducing Hyundai Santro back in 1998. Hyundai Santro received an overwhelming response and instantly clicked with the audience owing to a fresh look. Hyundai Santro is considered as a benchmark model with its tall boy design.
The tall boy concept car called Hyundai Santro was first showcased at the 1997 Delhi Auto Expo. This was followed by its official launch in 1998. After the launch of Santro, other automobile manufacturers followed with similar models, bringing about a revolutionary change. One such example is Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. In 2003, the South-Korean automaker, Hyundai, introduced the updated version of Hyundai Santro, the Hyundai Santro Xing.
Just like Hyundai Santro, the new Hyundai Santro Xing followed the footsteps of its elder sibling and garnered accolades. The automobile company has now planned to launch Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel in India. The diesel variant of one of Hyundai's most favoured model is also expected to achieve success in the Indian market, given the fuelling demand for diesel based fuel-efficient cars. Moreover, Hyundai Santro Xing is an established car in the hatchback segment today and an addition of a diesel variant is just what is required.
Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel price in India is estimated to be around Rs. 4.50 lacs to Rs. 5 lacs in the competitive hatchback market. Hyundai Santro Xing variants have so far been within the price bracket of Rs. 3 lacs to Rs. 5 lacs. Apart from the price range, Indian car consumers show interest in the performance and fuel efficiency, before purchasing a vehicle. Especially with increasing prices of crude oil, the need for hassle-free cars has risen. Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel 2012 will be powered by 1100cc diesel engine with a Common Rail Direct Fuel injection (CRDi) system.
The new Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel engine is expected to be capable of generating maximum power of 72 hp and peak torque of 150 Nm. Based on the diesel engine, the car should be capable of giving an optimum mileage of 18.7 kmpl on city roads and 23.5 kmpl on highway. In terms of design, styling and interior features, the new Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel is expected to have all the trademark features that are present in the versions existing models today. This new Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel car will come with V-shaped grill and rectangular headlamps.
The spacious five-seater Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel will have similar interior functions and features; however, there will be certain additions in the new model like steering mounted audio controls and Bluetooth controls. Over the years Hyundai has become one of the most accepted automobile companies alongside Maruti Suzuki. The success of the company is without a doubt attributed to Hyundai Santro. Now, with the upcoming Hyundai Santro Xing Diesel, the company is expected to grow stronger in the highly competitive hatchback segment of the Indian automobile industry.
